This mango granita is the ultimate summer beverage, with or without booze

With or without alcohol, this sweet and refreshing drink will be our go-to sip on warm sunny days. 

Mangoes are the must-have food of the season, known for their sweet taste and vibrant colours, but there’s more than meets the eye with the Australian mango.

Mangoes are fuelled with naturally occurring sugars, meaning they will give you that burst of energy without all the nasties.

When looking for a refreshing treat to cool you down, blending a mango into a granita or smoothie is an easy and delicious way to reap the health benefits. For an extra boost of fibre and vitamins C and A, you can even try adding the mango skins into the mix.

3 chopped mangoes

Juice of one lime

1 cup water

1 tbsp of caster sugar


1. Blend three chopped mangoes in a food processor or blender with the juice of one lime, 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon of caster sugar.

2. Strain, then pour into a metal tray and freeze for 3-4 hours.

3. Remove from the freezer and blend mixture again to a smooth slushy consistency. Serve immediately.

For an adult treat, add a shot of vodka or gin when blending just before serving.
