A chocolate matcha ball recipe to set you up for a week of healthy snacking

Straight from Chris Hemsworth’s Centr app, these chocolate matcha bliss balls make a healthy way to sweeten that mid-afternoon snack. Plus, they take only 20 minutes to make – from start to finish.

Chocolate and green tea – it’s a matcha made in heaven! With the flavour kick of vanilla, the fuel of oats and the antioxidant power of matcha, these bite-sized balls make a super snack.

100g pitted dates

1⁄2 cup rolled oats

1⁄2 cup desiccated coconut

1 tbs cocoa powder

1 tbs cacao nibs

2 tsp matcha green tea powder, plus extra for dusting

1⁄4 tsp salt1 tbs maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

Place dates in a small bowl and cover with hot water, allow to stand for 10 minutes to soften.

Place the oats, coconut, cocoa, cacao nibs, matcha and salt in the bowl of a food processor and blend to a fine crumb.

Drain dates, add to food processor along with maple syrup and vanilla and blend again until the mixture forms a dough. Add a little water to bring the mixture together if required.

Using wet hands, roll the mixture into even-sized balls, lightly dust with a little matcha and refrigerate for one hour.

Refrigerate chocolate matcha balls in an airtight container for up to five days or freeze for up to three months.
